San Diego Metropolitan Transit System had an antiquated and underused employee intranet. User types for the Intranet included an especially diverse group of people, from desk-bound transportation planners, to mechanics in rail yards, to transit police, to bus and rail operators, and everything in between.
The Glue completely overhauled the site, starting with a robust discovery process including quantitative and qualitative research. After deploying an online survey to all MTS employees, we held two days of interviews and focus groups with participants throughout the agency. We heard from HR, dispatch, operations, mechanics, security among others.
We mapped an experience that allowed each department to create their own type of engagement, while providing a baseline of organizational content and tools to foster community and a sense of shared vision and purpose.
We delivered a stunning user experience and design that satisfied a broad spectrum of user groups, while staying true to the MTS brand and vision.
Additionally, we conducted rigorous usability testing on a diverse set of users, and iterated on our findings to deliver the best possible product, on time and within budget.
